LA Tenants Union fights for the rights of tenants. Join the union to demand rent forgiveness and housing for all. Services provided include:

• Community organizing to protect tenants from evictions, harassment, and unsafe conditions.

• Free education on important tenants’ issues, including:

  • Rent stabilization

  • Tenants’ rights 

  • Repairs, damage, and infestation

  • Increases in utilities prices

  • Health code and building code violations

  • Evictions

  • Paying rent

  • Tips for tenants on the police and ICE

• Regular meetings to discuss and organize.

City of Los Angeles Housing + Community Investment Department (HCIDLA)

This organization has a vast amount of resources for tenants. Through the HCIDLA website, you can:

• File a complaint for violations

• Access an affordable and accessible housing registry

• Get eviction assistance

• Learn about the city’s regulations that protect the health and safety of tenants

• Look up property information

• Learn about renter protections

• Learn about homeless services

• Sign up for notifications about the 2021 Rent Relief Program that will provide a rent subsidy for eligible tenants affected by COVID-19

• Access resources for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking

• Access resources for residents with disabilities

Housing Rights Center of Los Angeles

Housing Rights Center promotes housing rights through education, advocacy, and litigation. This organization offers free landlord tenant counseling, free outreach and education, and free discrimination investigation services. It also provides community workshops and monthly rental listings to help you find affordable, senior, and veteran housing.

Coalition for Economic Survival

The Coalition for Economic Survival is a grassroots organization that advocates for social and economic justice. It works to protect tenants’ rights and advocate for safe and affordable housing. This organization focuses on:

• Rent control protection

• Eradicating slum housing conditions

• Stopping illegal evictions

• Eliminating housing dangers (e.g. lead paint)

• Protecting against gentrification

• Advocating for affordable housing through initiatives
